Ron Hershco Buys Mafia Graveyard

Imagine being an Israeli developer who buys real estate only to discover that it is a graveyard where the Mafia supposedly buried bodies. That is indeed the story of what happened to Ron Hershco, a renowned property developer and philanthropist.

In Ozone Park, Queens the man paid $1.6 million for a lot on 75th Street, and is working to build 17 three-family homes on the property.

“Working in real estate, I buy properties – and dont have any clue what’s underground,” said Ron Hershco.

After he bought them, it was discovered that there were many bodies on the lot – including Bonanno capos Philip “Phil Lucky” Giaccone and Dominick “Big Trin” Trinchera, as well as the body of John Favara, a neighbor of John Gotti who accidentally ran over and killed the don’s 12-year-old son in 1980. The site also is believed to be the final resting place of Tommy DeSimone, the gangster who inspired Joe Pesci’s character in the flick “Goodfellas.”
