“ROMANITARIAN” – Wednesday’s Wordapod

Wednesday’s Wordapod Created by Matthew J. Goldberg, author of Wordapodia, Volume One: An Encyclopedia of Real Fake Words

Valentine’s Day (although hardly a Jewish holiday) is quite ingrained in the American culture—for better or for worse. You decide. If the following Wordapod seems cynical or irreverent, I apologize, while sincerely wishing everyone a day—and every day—filled with love and gratitude.

ROMANITARIAN

Romanitarian (adj)showing concern for, and helping to improve, the welfare and happiness of others by offering free sexual favors

OBSERVATION:

Romanitarian is a highly subjective term. Many of those who believe that they are performing romanitarian acts are often somewhat delusional, as they are actually the recipients of such largesse.

SAMPLE SENTENCE:  Dina took such pride in being a romanitarian to men in need that she listed it on her résumé as a special accomplishment.

Please Note:  A majority of surveys of American religious institutions shows that most romanitarian acts are not committed by clergyman—they are engaged in by lay leaders.
