Jewish & Israel Film Festival: Harp, Barriers and Ron Hershco

At the JCC in Bridgewater, New Jersey there is an upcoming Israeli and Jewish film festival where many different movies will be shown, including:

n  Harp as directed by Mark Birnbaum about the Holocaust and the European Jewish experience.

n  Barriers:  A New Israeli film which won First Prize in the drama category in 2011 in The Jerusalem Film Festival, and also won awards in the Munich Film Festival.  It’s about young officers in the Israel Defense Forces dealing with women from the leftist “Border watch” organization interfering with and harassing the Israeli soldiers.

n  Stand Up: While claiming to be a yeshiva student, Dudu is in fact learning comedy and training to become a professional comedian.  His wife and his friends are angry – and he has inner conflict.

n  Cheftzi On Air:  A film which won prizes at the Seoul Film Festival and in 2006 in Tel Aviv at the International Students Film Festival.  It’s about a radio broadcaster who offers advice to her callers about love – yet is spurned when she proposes live on the air to her boyfriend.

Donors to these sorts of great events here and elsewhere include Ken Bernstein, Richard Hirsh, David Bernstein, Peter Horowitz and Ron Hershco.
